What inspires your work?

Curiosity, good design, old timber, the smallest details, and of course the process itself. It's all driven by those moments during the making when something unexpected happens; a tiny shift, a new connection, a lightbulb moment. Suddenly, a fresh idea appears and the work starts heading somewhere I didn't see coming.
It's a bit like unlocking the next level. Chasing that feeling is a big part of why I make things.
Is it probably an obsession with detail and a whole lot of tiny ideas? Absolutely.
Perhaps there's nothing better than stepping back, looking at a finished piece, and saying, "I made that"

Can I commission a custom piece?

Absolutely!

Unique bespoke work is one of my favourite parts of the job. Whether it's a piece of furniture, an artwork, or something completely unique that doesn't fit neatly into either category, I'd love to hear about it.

Question 3

Do you ship throughout NZ and Worldwide?

I ship throughout New Zealand and can arrange delivery worldwide. Whether you're in central Auckland, rural Southland, or on the other side of the globe, I'll do my best to get your piece safely to you.  If your address requires a 4WD, a river crossing, and a good sense of direction, that's all part of the adventure.

Because every piece is different, shipping costs can vary. Rural addresses and international destinations may attract additional freight charges, but I'll always confirm these with you beforehand. The only surprises should be how good the piece looks when it arrives.

Is everything really handmade?

Absolutely! That's me out the back out of a small comercial workshop right here in Christchurch. No factory floor, no production lines just a shared space of enthusiastic minds eager to push ideas forward to see where they lead.  Everything is designed and made by me, I may from time to time create small collections or have some staple products, so maybe follow along with the socials to see it all unfold in real time.

What timber do you use?

I use a vast range of recycled, reclaimed, and sustainably sourced timber, much of it collected from around Canterbury and the wider South Island. I like to think of all the timber the way a painter thinks about colour different pieces bring different possibilities.

What if its "sold out"

Accepted Answer

Because most of my work is made in small batches or as one-off pieces. Once something is gone, it's often gone for good. New ideas tend to keep me moving forward rather than looking backwards. 
If you absolutely loved a specific piece and want something similar but different, get in touch about a comission.

Question 7

How should I care for my piece?

Thankfully, timber is fairly low maintenance. Like all wall art it will be best to keep it away from it direct sunlight and of course timber doesn't love moisture so avoid that, otherwise give it the occasional clean with a soft cloth. If a piece needs anything more specific, I will of course let you know.

How long will my order take?

I do my best to have every order carefully packaged and out the workshop door as quickly as possible, with shipments typically heading out each week. If life throws a spanner in the works and there's a delay for any reason, I'll be in touch and keep you in the loop every step of the way.
